Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 28 of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys
in Fact," subtitle "Who May Not Practice Law," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

28.

Any register of wills or clerk of any court, or deputy register or
clerk or assistant clerk, appointee or employee of said register of
wills or clerk of any court, or bailiff of any court, or officer or em-
ployee of any juvenile court except a Master for Juvenile Causes,
WHO IS NOT EMPLOYED FULL TIME who shall pursue the
practice as attorney at law in this State during the term of their
office or appointment, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
on conviction shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars nor
more than one hundred dollars, and be suspended from the practice
of law before any of the courts of Maryland for one year.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 123

(Senate Bill 435)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 255 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Gaming," extending to
Dorchester County the provisions of the law concerning the hold-
ing of carnivals, bazaars, raffles or other devices by certain
organizations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 255 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle
"Gaming," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

255.

Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to make it unlawful
for any volunteer fire company or bona fide fraternal, civic, war
veterans', religious or charitable organization or corporation in Anne
Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's,
St. Mary's and Talbot counties to conduct or hold a carnival, bazaar,
or raffle for the exclusive benefit of any such volunteer fire company
or fraternal, civic, war veterans', religious or charitable organiza-
tion or corporation, provided that no individual or group of individu-
als shall benefit financially from the holding of any such bazaar,
carnival, or raffle or shall receive or be paid any of the proceeds
from any such carnival, bazaar, or raffle, for personal use or benefit.
It shall be lawful for such organization or corporation to award
