prizes in cash or in merchandise by such devices as are commonly
designated as paddle wheels, wheels of fortune, chance books, bingo,
or any other gaming device, provided, however, that any carnivals,
bazaars, or raffles shall be managed by the members of such group,
organization or corporation personally through its members.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 124
(Senate Bill 442)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9 (1)
of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Pensions," subtitle "In General," adding to
the list of those required to file a statement of certain services
for which credit is claimed under the State pension system.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 9 (1) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Pensions," subtitle "In
General," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
9.
(1) Under such rules and regulations as the board of trustees
shall adopt, each member who was an employee at any time during
the year immediately preceding the date of establishment and who
becomes a member during the first year after the date of establish-
ment, shall file a detailed statement of all service as an employee
rendered by him prior to the date of establishment for which he
claims credit. Each member who is an unclassified hourly employee
of the State Roads Commission, or who is an employee by virtue
of employment on a county road system, or who had maintained
membership in a municipality presently participating in the system,
as hereinbefore provided, on June 1, 1943, and who becomes a mem-
ber during the first year thereafter, shall file a detailed statement
of all services as an employee rendered by him prior to June 1, 1943,
for which he claims credit.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970. IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY
MEASURE AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRES-
ERVATION OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY AND
HAVING BEEN PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUP-
PORTED BY THREE-FIFTHS OF ALL THE MEMBERS
ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO HOUSES OF THE GEN-
ERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM
THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.
