CHAPTER 112
(Senate Bill 164)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 35(a)(1)
and 36(b)(l) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Supplement), REPLACEMENT VOLUME), title "Public
Education," subtitle "County Boards of Education," amending the
public education laws of this State in order to make certain cor-
rections in the language and references thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 35(a)(l) and 36(b)(l) of Article 77 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1969 Supplement), REPLACEMENT
VOLUME), title "Public Education," subtitle "County Boards of
Education," be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

35(a)(l)

For a school system with an enrollment of less than [then] fifty
thousand (50,000) pupils, five members; except that any county
haying on July 1, 1969, more than five members shall retain such
existing number of members;

36(b)(l)

If after the expiration of the time allowed for filing of petitions
by this section, there are no more than two nominees for the county
Board of Education at large, respectively for each member then
to be elected, said board of supervisors of elections shall certify
said candidates as duly nominated candidates for election for the
respective Board of Education offices. These names and the name
of the position for which they are candidates shall be omitted from
the ballot required by [subsection] sub-subsection (2) of this sub-
section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

(1969 Supplement), REPLACEMENT VOLUME), title "Higher
Education," subtitles "Community Colleges" and "State Colleges,"
amending the higher education laws of this State in order to make
certain corrections in the language and references thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
