22.105—County Flag

The Howard County Flag is a red, white, green and gold design
which incorporates part of the flag of the State of Maryland. Added
to the basic design, on the first quarterly, a sheaf of wheat in gold.
In the fourth quarterly, a green outline of the County is set in a triangle
of gold. The remaining quarterlies are red. The flag is centered with
the same red and white cross incorporated in the flag of the State of
Maryland.

The design is as published in The Central Maryland News of June
6, 1968.

Section 2. BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUN-
CIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, That this Act shall take
effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.

This Bill, having been approved by the Executive and returned to the
Council, stands enacted on May 14, 1969.

Council Bill No. 12

An Act adopting a County Seal for Howard County, Maryland,
setting out the design of the Seal, the proper colors to be displayed
therein and providing for the persons or officers who shall attest
to the Seal.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 22.106 is hereby added
to Title 22 of the Howard County Code, "General Provisions, Penalties
and Rules of Interpretation", to read as follows:

22.106—County Seal

The County Seal of Howard County shall be as displayed on the
wall of the County Council Hearing Room, Court House, Ellicott City,
Maryland. Surrounding the heraldry shall be the words "Howard County,
Maryland". Whenever the seal is reproduced in color, the colors of the
heraldry shall be light blue for the sky, yellow for the wheat sheaf
with brown kernels. The farming implements on either side of the sheaf
of wheat are gray, the background consists of rolling hills colored green
and brown. In the foreground of the seal are three carrots, two pumpkins
and four tomatoes in their natural colors.

The duly elected County Executive of Howard County, the duly ap-
pointed Secretary to the County Council of Howard County and the duly
appointed County Administrator of Howard County shall attest to the
County Seal.

Section 2. BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUN-
CIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, That this Act shall take
effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.
