determined that such street, avenue, road or alley was completed prior
to July 14, 1953. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, such ap-
proval may be approved SUCH STREET. AVENUE, ROAD OR ALLEY
MAY BE ACCEPTED BY THE COUNTY even if said street, avenue,
road or alley IT cannot be brought up to County requirements, provided
that such street, avenue, road or alley IT was completed prior to July
14, 1953.
Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Ordinance
is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, welfare, and
property, and being passed by the affirmative vote of five (5) members
of the County Council, the same shall take effect from the date it becomes
law.

An Act, To provide for the appointment of persons to the Police
Department to be known and designated as Auxiliary Policemen, to
provide for their selection, appointment, and duties, by adding
a new section to the Baltimore County Code, 1958, to be known
as section 24-13B, under title "Police Department," Article 1. In
General.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the County Council of Baltimore
County, Maryland, That a new section 24-13B be and it is hereby
added to the Baltimore County Code, 1958, Title "Police Department,"
Article 1. In General, said new section to read as follows:
24-13B. In addition to the power and authority hereinbefore granted
to appoint and regulate a Police Department, the County is authorized
to establish a unit to be known and designated as "Auxiliary Police
Unit," and to appoint thereto such number of persons as the county
may deem necessary, to be known and designated as auxiliary policemen.
Auxiliary policemen shall perform such duties as the Chief of Police,
with the approval of the County Administrative Officer, shall determine
and their powers of arrest shall be limited to the time they
are working specific assignments, having been directed by the Chief of
