Section 3-208 (150).
In Subsection 414.13 of the Fourth Edition of the BOCA Basic Build-
ing Code, immediately following the word "garages," strike the words
"exceeding seven hundred and fifty (750) square feet in area and".
Section 3-208 (151).
In Subsection 618.41 of the Fourth Edition of the BOCA Basic Build-
ing Code, immediately below the last line of the standards for maximum
riser and minimum tread, add the following sentence: "All stairways shall
have uniform risers and uniform treads."
Section 3-208 (152).
Immediately following Subsection 835.4 of the Fourth Edition of the
BOCA Basic Building Code, add the following new Subsection: "Sub-
section 835.5. Top Course Capping. Walls of hollow masonry shall be
capped with at least four (4) inches of solid masonry or concrete or shall
have the cells of top course filled with concrete or grout at least four (4)
inches thick."
Section 3-208(153).
Immediately following the last sentence of Subsection 837.0 of the
Fourth Edition of the BOCA Basic Building Code, add the following
sentence: "The ratio of unsupported height or length of wall to thickness
of solid masonry walls shall be not more than twenty (20) times, for hollow
masonry units shall not be more than eighteen (18) times, for cavity
masonry units (use net thickness) shall not be more than eighteen (18)
times, and for reinforced masonry units shall not be more than twenty
(20) times. The ratio of the unsupported height of piers to the least
dimension for solid masonry shall not be more than ten (10) times, and
for hollow masonry shall not be more than four (4) times."
Section 3-208 (154).
Immediately following the period after the word "wood" on line 3
of Subsection 876.3 of the Fourth Edition of the BOCA Basic Building
Code, add the following sentence: "Sills which are more than six (6)
inches from exposed earth may be approved or treated wood, or shall be
protected against termites by means of a protective shield between the
foundation or apron wall and all wood members. Shields are required to
be continuous and unpierced and may be of aluminum, copper, galvanized
steel of not less than No. 26 U. S. gauge, or other corrosive resistive
materials. They are to extend not less than two (2) inches beyond the
face of the wall and to be bent downward at an angle of forty-five (45)
degrees to form a protective hood."
Section 3-208 (155).
In Subsection 907.8 of the 1968 Accumulative Supplement to the
BOCA Basic Building Code, strike the words "at the lower surface of the
roof sheathing" immediately following the word "stopped" on line 5, and
insert in lieu thereof the following: "six (6) inches above the top of the
roof framing."
