(b) Air conditioning appliances installed in confined spaces must
be installed in accordance with their listing and when such units are
installed in spaces such as alcoves and closets, they must be specifically
listed for such installations.

When the plenum for an air conditioner which includes provisions
for heating air is adjacent to combustible material, the clearance shall be
measured to the surface of the plaster or other noncombustible finish when
the clearance specified is 2 inches or less.

The clearance to these appliances shall not interfere with the re-
quirements for combustion air, draft hood clearance and relief, and
accessibility for servicing. (See 3.3.1 and 3.4)

(46)    Subsection 4.23.1. Clearances: Delete all except first paragraph.

(47)    Subsection 5.1.1. Appliances, Required to be Vented. Delete
5.1.1 (j) as written and substitute the following: "(j) Appliances listed
as vented or unvented will require special approval by the Administrative
Authority to be installed unvented."

(48)    Subsection 5.4.5. Gas Vents Serving Two or More Gas Ap-
pliances Having Draft Hoods: Delete paragraph (c) as written and sub-
stitute the following: " (c) The effective area of the manifold, all junction
fittings and the common vent connector shall be equal to the combined
areas of the drafthood outlets for which it acts as a common carrier
or shall be in accordance with approved engineering methods."

(49)    Subsection 5.4.6. Marking: Delete entire subsection.

(50)    Subsection 5.6.6. Marking: Delete entire subsection.

(51)    Subsection 5.7.1. Materials: Delete as written and substitute
the following: "Outside gas vents and chimneys shall possess high insula-
tion qualities or be adequately insulated."

(52)    Subsection 5.7.2. Condensate Drain. Delete as written and
substitute the following: "Provisions shall be made to drain off the conden-
sate."

(53)    Subsection 5.9.3. Ventilating Hoods and Exhaust Systems:
Add new (c) as follows: "(c) When a fire extinguisher system is pro-
vided in the ventilating hood which interrupts the gas supply, a manually
reset device must be installed in the interrupter system with appropriate
instructions in regard to relighting the appliance."

(54)    Part 7.—Definitions:

Delete garage, residential with definition and substitute following:
"GARAGE. A building or room in which self-propelled passenger vehicles
are or may be stored or repaired."

Add the definition of "Gas Fitting" as follows: "GAS FITTING.
Gas Fitting shall mean the work, beginning at the outlet of the meter,
of putting together, installing, connecting, and the maintenance and re-
pair of any piping, fitting, fixtures, or other appliances which are to contain
gas for heat, light, or power, including attachments and appurtenances."

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Ordinance
shall take effect forty-five (45) days after it becomes law.
