(27)    Subsection 4.6.1. Installations in Sleeping Quarters: Delete
as written and substitute the following: "Room heaters installed as the
only means of heat in rooms used for sleeping or bathing purpose shall
be of the sealed combustion chamber type which take their air for com-
bustion from, and discharge the flue gas to, the outside atmosphere.

"Room heaters installed as means of supplementary heat in rooms
used for sleeping or bathing purposes shall be as above or of the vented
type. The vented type heater shall be connected to an effective chimney
or gas vent and be equipped with an automatic pilot."

(28)    Subsection 4.6.3. Clearance. Delete the second paragraph in-
cluding the deletion of " (a)" and " (b)".

(29)    Subsection 4.7.1. Independent Gas Piping: Delete entire sub-
section.

(30)     Subsection 4.7.3. Clearance: Delete from Table 11 lines II
and IV pertaining to "unlisted" and delete footnotes "6" and "9".

(31)    Subsection 4.7.3. (b). Delete THE SECOND SENTENCE OF
THE first paragraph of Subsection 4.7.3. (b). and substitute the following:
Central heating furnaces and boilers installed in confined spaces must
be installed in accordance with their listing and
when such units are

installed in spaces such as alcoves and closets, they must be specifically

listed for such installations."

(32)    Subsection 4.7.10. Plenum Chambers and Air Ducts. Delete
Subsection 4.7.10 (c) and substitute the following: "(c) When the furnace
is installed within a confined space, or not within the heated space, the
air circulated by the furnace shall be handled by ducts which are sealed
to the furnace casing, entirely separate from the means 'provided for
supplying combustion and ventilation air, and connected to the heated
space and/or to the outside air."

(33)    Subsection 4.9.7. Clearance: Delete the last two sentences
starting with "When these...." and substitute the following: "Where the
burner or controls must be serviced from the bottom of the floor furnace,
sufficient additional clearance must be provided to permit their removal."

(34)    Subsection 4.9.8. Access: Change title to "Pit to Be Provided",
delete as written and substitute the following: "Where the distance be-
tween the floor joists and the ground level is less than 30 inches or
the bottom of the floor furnace does not have the required clearances,
a pit must be provided under the floor furnace. The access passageway
and the bottom of the pit must have a minimum clearance of 30 inches
from the bottom of the floor joists. The pit shall be sized to give a
clearance of eighteen (18) inches on the control and vent collar sides.
If the control and vent collar sides are adjacent to each other, the clear-
ance on the remaining two sides may be reduced to 6 inches. The access
passageway (see 4.9.9) must enter the pit at the control side where
the 18-inch clearance is provided. The sides and bottom of the pit shall
be lined with concrete or concrete block to extend 4 inches above the
ground level and shall connect with the concrete sides of the access
passageway (see 4.9.9). The bottom of the pit may be covered with 2 inches
of crushed stone, gravel, or similar material in lieu of concrete, if desired."

(35)    Subsection 4.9.9. Seepage Pan: Change title to "Access", de-
lete as written and substitute the following: "Provision shall be made
for access to the floor furnace by means of a trap door of at least 24
inches by 24 inches, located at some convenient portion of the house
