used for combustible storage and shall have no direct access from the
garage storage or repair areas.
All air for combustion purposes entering such a room shall be from
outside of the building.
(b) Overhead heaters shall be installed not lower than the height
for which they are approved, not less than 8 feet above the floor and
protected against physical damage.
(19) Subsection 3.3.1. Accessibility for Service. Delete paragraph
(a) as written and substitute the following:
(a) Every gas appliance shall be located with respect to building con-
struction and other equipment so as to permit access to the appliance.
Sufficient space (minimum of 24 inches) shall be maintained on sides re-
quired to permit cleaning of heating surfaces; the replacement of filters,
blowers, motors, burners, controls and vent connections; the lubrication of
moving parts where required; and the adjustment and cleaning of burners
and pilots. Where appliances are installed in unfinished attics, a floored
area at least 3 feet by 3 feet shall be provided at the appliance for
servicing and a floored walkway at least 2 feet wide shall be provided
between the point of access to the attic and the appliance.
(20) Subsection 3.4.2. Appliances Located in Unconfined Spaces:
Renumber present paragraphs (a) and (b), (b) and (c) respectively, and
add new paragraph (a) as follows:
(a) To meet the requirements of this section, the space in which
the appliances are installed shall be at least sixteen (16) times the total
volume of the appliances. When the actual ceiling height of the space
is greater than 8' the volume of the space shall be figured on the basis
of a ceiling height of 8'.
(21) Subsection 3.5.1. Connecting Gas Appliances: Delete para-
graph (c) and (d) as written and substitute as follows:
(c) Listed appliance connectors on non-portable appliances when the
piping outlet is in the same room as the appliance and the connector
is adequately protected against physical damage and does not exceed
four feet in length.
(d) Aluminum alloy tubing and connectors shall not be used in
exterior locations nor in interior locations where they are in contact
with masonry, plaster, or are subject to repeated corrosive wettings.
(22) Subsection 3.5.2. Appliance Shutoff Valves: In the second
line, delete the word "should" and substitute the word "shall".
(23) Subsection 4.5.1. Prohibited Installations: Delete last portion
of first sentence starting with "or any" and place word "or" before word
"bedrooms".
(24) Subsection 4.5.6. Temperature Limiting Devices: Delete as writ-
ten and substitute the following: "A water heater or a hot water storage
vessel shall be installed with a temperature relief valve and a pressure
relief valve or a combination temperature and pressure relief valve."
(25) Subsection 4.5.7. Temperature, Pressure and Vacuum Relief
Valves: Delete entire subsection.
(26) Subsection 4.5.8. Automatic (Instantaneous or Storage) Types:
Delete entire subsection.
