(15) Subsection 3.1.1. Appliances, Accessories and Equipment to
be "Approved": Delete as written and substitute the following:
All gas appliances and accessories installed for domestic or com-
mercial use shall :
(a) Be listed by a nationally recognized testing agency, or
(b) Comply with applicable American Standard Approval or Listing
Requirements covering safe operation, substantial and durable construction
and acceptable performance, or
(c) Be acceptable to the governmental authority having jurisdiction.
The word "listed" refers to appliances and accessories which are
shown in a list published by an approved nationally recognized testing
agency, such as the American Gas Association, Inc. Laboratories and
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., qualified and equipped for experimental
testing, and maintaining an adequate periodic inspection of current pro-
duction of listed models and whose listing states either that the appliance
or accessory complies with nationally recognized safety requirements or
has been tested and found safe for use in a specified manner. Compliance
may also be determined by the presence on the appliance or accessory
of a label of such a nationally recognized testing agency, whose label on
the appliance or accessory states that it complies with national safety
requirements.
In cases where no applicable Standard has been developed for a given
class of appliance or accessory, approval of the Administrative Authority
should be obtained before the appliance or accessory is installed.
(16) Subsection 3.1.5. Flammable Vapors: Change title to read
"Flammable Vapors, Dust or Lint" and delete as written and substitute
the following: "Gas appliances shall not be installed in any location where
flammable vapors, dust, lint or similar combustible or explosive materials
are likely to be present, unless the design, installation and operation are
such as to eliminate the possible ignition of such vapors or materials
and meets with the Administrative Authority's approval.
(17) Subsection 3.1.6. Installation in Residential Garages. Delete
this entire subsection.
(18) Subsection 3.1.7. Installation in Commercial Garages. Delete
the word "commercial" in the title of this subsection and delete paragraphs
" (a)" and " (b)" as written and substitute the following:
(a) Floor mounted heaters in garages for motor vehicles shall be
located in a room separated from other parts of the garage by construction
having at least a one-hour fire-resistance rating. This room shall not be
