"Town Officers," and subheaded, "Compensation," being a part of the
Charter of Cottage City, Maryland, be, and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
17-5. Town Officers
(g) Compensation
[The Chairman-Commissioner of the Town of Cottage City shall
receive an annual salary not to exceed $170.00, and the other Commis-
sioners of the Town of Cottage City shall each receive an annual salary
not to exceed $150.00. The Secretary Commissioner may however, charge
such fee or fees for administering oaths as justices of the peace and
notaries public are by law allowed to charge, and no more; provided,
however, that such Secretary Commissioner shall charge no fee for admin-
istering oaths of office to Commissioners, the Town Treasurer, the mem-
bers of the Board of Election Supervisors, and other town officials. The
salary of Cottage City Treasurer shall not exceed $2400.00 per annum.
The salary of secretaries and clerks shall be paid on an hourly basis and
in such sums as the Cottage City Commissioners shall in their sole dis-
cretion seem proper.]
The Chairman-Commissioner and Police Commissioner of the Town
of Cottage City shall receive a monthly salary in a sum not to exceed
$25.00 each; other Commissioners shall receive a monthly salary in a sum
not to exceed $20.00 each; Treasurer shall receive a monthly salary in a
sum not to exceed $250.00. The salaries of all other officers and employees
shall be paid in such sums as the Cottage City Commissioners shall in
their sole discretion deem proper. The Secretary-Commissioner may, how-
ever, charge such fee or fees for administering oaths as justices of the
peace and notaries public are by law allowed to charge and no more,
provided, however, that such Secretary-Commissioner shall charge no fee
for administering oaths of office to Commissioners, the Town Treasurer,
the members of the Board of Election Supervisors, and other town officials.

Whereas, a Petition for Annexation of land adjacent and contiguous
to part of the existing easterly corporate boundary of the Town of Easton
has been filed by the Board of Public Works of the State of Maryland and
Col. Robery J. Lally, Superintendent of Maryland State Police, pursuant
to Section 19, Article 23A, Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
as amended; AND,
Whereas, the presiding officer of the Town of Easton has caused to be
made a verification that the area proposed to be annexed pursuant to said
petition is in fact contiguous and adjacent to the existing corporate area;
that no persons reside in the area to be annexed, and that the Petitioner
is the owner of all of the assessed valuation of the real property located in
said area to be annexed; NOW THEREFORE,
