(d) The Lieutenant Governor shall perform the functions and
duties assigned to him by the Governor from time to time; but no
power specifically vested in the Governor by the Constitution of this
State may be assigned to the Lieutenant Governor.
(e) The Lieutenant Governor shall receive such compensation
as established by the General Assembly from time to time.
(f) If the Constitution of Maryland is amended to establish the
Lieutenant Governor as a constitutional office, the person elected
to and holding office under this section shall be the Lieutenant
Governor under the constitutional office for the remainder of the
term then existing.
(g) If the proposed Constitutional amendment to create the con-
stitutional office of Lieutenant Governor is not submitted to the quali-
fied voters of the State of Maryland in November, 1970, or is rejected
by the qualified voters of the State, then these aforegoing subsections
creating the statutory position of Lieutenant Governor shall be void
on December 1, 1970.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 2
(Senate Bill 887)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 700 (1)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Natural Resources,"
subtitle "Oysters and Clams," to allow the tonging of oysters in
Dorchester County waters of the Choptank River during a certain
period.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 700 (1) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume and 1969 Supplement), title
"Natural Resources," subtitle "Oysters and Clams," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
700.
(1) It shall be unlawful to take or catch oysters by tongs or patent
tongs except during the tonging season which shall begin on the
fifteenth day of September in each year and end on the thirty-first
day of March next succeeding, except in the following waters where
the tonging season shall be as follows:
Worcester County January 1 to December 31, inclusive
