gomery County," subtitle "Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning Commission," and Sections 59-2, 59-4, 59-5, 59-6, 59-17 (b),
59-30(c), (d), (f), and (g), 59-60(a) and 59-95(d) of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition, as
amended, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land) title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Park and Planning
Commission," be and hereby are repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments to read as follows:
1(2) (70-6) (59-2). Composition; appointment and qualifications
of members.
The Commission shall be composed of ten members, five of whom
shall be residents of Montgomery County and five of whom shall be
residents of Prince George's County. Of the members of the com-
mission from each county, not more than three shall be members of
the same political party. All members shall be persons of ability,
experience, and integrity and shall not be selected as representing
or supporting any special interest or interests. All members of the
commission to be appointed from [each county] Prince George's
County shall be appointed by the governing body of that county.
All members of the commission to be appointed from Montgomery
County shall be appointed by the County Executive subject to the
confirmation of the County Council. In Montgomery County, the
[Montgomery County Council] County Executive shall be required
to select [their] his respective appointments or re-appointments
from a list of applicants. Such list shall be open to the public at
all times, and shall be completed at least three weeks prior to actual
appointment or re-appointment. In the event that the County [coun-
cil] Executive does not appoint any individual whose name appears
on such list, or in the event that no name appears on such list, the
County [council] Executive shall provide for the preparation of a
second list and shall follow the procedure applicable to the first such
list. All such appointments or reappointments shall be subject to
section 70-18 of this Code.
1 (4) (70-8) (59-4). Removal of members; vacancies.
The appointing body of [either] Prince George's County and
the County Executive of Montgomery County with the approval of
the County Council, may remove any member from that County prior
to the expiration of the term for which he was appointed. In such
case, the cause of removal shall be stated in writing and a public
hearing held thereon. Any vacancy occurring in the membership
of the commission from Montgomery County for any cause shall be
filled by the [governing body] County Executive of the County,
subject to the confirmation of the County Council, for the un-
expired term and any vacancy occurring in the membership of the
commission from Prince George's County shall be filled in the man-
ner provided herein for the making of appointments to the commis-
sion. A person appointed to fill any such vacancy for an unexpired
term shall be a member of the same political party as was represented
by the member who vacated the office.
1(5) (70-9) (59-5). Compensation of members; full-time members.
Each member of the commission shall receive an annual salary
of forty-eight hundred dollars ($4800), payable monthly from the
