appointed he shall hold office during AT [Good behavior] the Secre-
tary's pleasure.
He may be removed by the Secretary of Economic
and Community Development, with the approval of the
Governor[,
only for incompetency, immorality or other good cause, upon charges
furnished him in writing and after opportunity for a hearing]. Any
such removal by the [Governor] Secretary of Economic and Com-
munity Development
is final and is not subject to any appeal. The
Director shall be selected because of his known experience and in-
terest in the development of natural resources and tourist and in-
dustrial opportunities. He shall receive such salary as provided in the
budget from time to time. The Director shall [serve as secretary
of the Commission, shall attend the meetings of the Commission,
shall be chief administrative officer of the Department and shall
have general charge of the work of the Commission, subject to its
orders and directions] operate this Division under the direction of
the Secretary of Economic and Community Development in accord-
ance with the provisions of the law relating to establishment of the
Department of Economic and Community Development.

260.

It shall be the duty of the Director and the Commission to:

(a) Investigate and assemble information pertinent to the eco-
nomic development, industrial opportunities and economic resources
of the State, including raw materials, power and water resources,
transportation facilities, markets, labor, banking and financing
facilities, industrial sites and other fields of research.

(2)    Encourage location of new industrial enterprises in the
State and the retention and expansion of present enterprises in co-
ordination with local governing bodies and local economic develop-
ment agencies.

(3)    Encourage development of recreational areas and encourage
tourist business in the State, making the public aware of the State's
historical background and (progress, and generally advertise the
State and disseminate information thereon.

(4)    Encourage formation of local and sectional development com-
mittees and cooperate with local civic groups and other local, state
and federal development agencies.

(5)    Disseminate information in the interest of industrial develop-
ment and in the interest of development of the tourist business in
this State, by publication, advertising and other means.

(6)    Collect and assemble information and data available from
other State agencies and departments.

So far as may be practicable in performance of its duties in con-
nection with collection and assembling of information, the Commis-
sion and/or the Director shall make use of such pertinent data
as may be secured from the boards, commissions, agencies and in-
stitutions of this State. The Commission and the Director shall have
access to all records, data, information and statistics of such other
boards, commissions, agencies and institutions except such records
or information that is required by law to be confidential and secret.
