Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect July 1, 1968. Passed over Governor's Veto, January 6, 1969. CHAPTER 3 (Senate Bill 619) AN ACT to provide a pension for John Lancaster. Whereas, John Lancaster was a dedicated and diligent public servant for a period of thirty-four years, and Whereas, he maintained the Old State House in St. Mary's City and took a great personal interest in this historic site, and Whereas, only his interest in this building, which has since become a major tourist attraction kept the Old State House from being acquired by private interest, now, therefore Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That sufficient funds shall be appropriated to the Employees' Retirement System to be administered by this agency in providing a pen-sion of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) a month to John Lancaster of St. Mary's County for the remainder of his life. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect July 1, 1968. Passed over Governor's Veto, January 6, 1969. CHAPTER 4 (Senate Bill 1) AN ACT making an emergency appropriation for the payment of the expenses of the General Assembly of Maryland for the Extraordinary Session of 1969. Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated as an emergency appropriation from any funds in the General Surplus Fund Account of the Treasury of the State for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1969, for the payment of the officers and em-
