Due to my election on November 5, 1968 as Vice President of the United States, I hereby resign the office of Governor of Maryland to take effect at 1:00 p.m., January 7, 1969. By copies of this letter to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Delegates, I am advising both Houses of the Maryland General Assembly of my resignation.
