Sec. 6. And be it further enacted, That if, pursuant to any other
law enacted by this session of the General Assembly of Maryland,
any section or sections of Article 77 which are renumbered without
change herein are amended, added to or repealed, such amendments,
additions or repeals shall be effective and apply to the section or
sections as renumbered by this Apt; and the codifiers are hereby
authorized to make such numbering adjustments as will accom-
plish the intention of the General Assembly.

Sec. 7. And be it further enacted, That if any provision of this
Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstances is
held invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not affect the other
provisions or any other application of this Act which can be given
effect without the invalid provisions or application, and to this end,
all the provisions of this Act are hereby declared to be severable.

Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 406
(Senate Bill 17)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 241(b)
and (c) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965
Replacement Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Public Educa-
tion," subtitle "Chapter 23. School Attendance," revising the
provisions on aid for special treatment for handicapped children,
and to provide that funds so allocated shall be included in the
annual State Budget, subject AS TO PART OF SUCH FUNDS
to the power of the General Assembly with respect to budget
appropriations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 241(b) and (c) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1968 Supplement), title
"Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 23. School Attendance," be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

241.

(b) Whenever the City of Baltimore or any of the counties of the
State inaugurate a special program of instruction under standards,
rules and regulations of the State Board of Education, to meet the
needs of any child whose handicap is physical or mental and whose
needs are not met by ordinary school facilities, the city or counties
so providing the same shall receive, toward the cost of teachers,
special equipment, nursing, therapeutic treatment, and transporta-
tion, an amount not less than eight hundred dollars ($800.00) ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00)
