of the county.

71.    Communications with principals and teachers; reports.

The county superintendent of schools, acting as the executive
officer of the county board of education, shall conduct all corres-
pondence, receive ail reports from the principals and teachers, and
shall see that all reports are properly made and submitted. He shall
prepare, or cause to be prepared, and submit to the county board of
education for adoption, all reports required of that board by the State
Board of Education or the State Superintendent of Schools, and he
shall prepare, or cause to be prepared, and submit for approval; the
TO THE county board of education, the annual report addressed to
the people of the county, provided for in Section 121 of this article.

72.    Bond.

The county superintendent of schools and such other employees of
the county board of education who have occasion to handle funds of
the school system shall give bond to the State of Maryland in such
penal sum as the board shall determine. Said bond shall have the
security of any guaranty, deposit, trust, or other similar company
duly authorized under the laws of Maryland to act in such capacity.
The cost or fee for such security shall be paid by the county board of
education, and said bond, when executed, shall be filed in the office
of the clerk of the court of the county. The bond shall provide that the
employee will faithfully perform the duties of his office and pay over
and apply all moneys that shall come to his hand or care to such
persons and in such manner as said board may, under the provisions
of this article, direct, and that he will keep a full account of all
moneys received and paid by him, and all matters relating to the
duties of his office and preserve the same, and all vouchers relating
thereto, and deliver up all books and vouchers relating to this office to
his successor.

Chapter 6. The Public Schools

73.    Required school year for public schools; admission of pupils.

All persons between the ages of five and twenty years shall be
admitted free of charge to the public schools of the State. All such
public schools under the jurisdiction of boards of education shall be
kept open for not less than one hundred eighty (180) actual school
days during a ten-month period of each school year.

74. School terms.

The school year shall be divided into such terms as the board of
education shall deem appropriate.

75.    Hours and days schools to be open.

Schools shall be kept open each day during the school year, except
Saturday, Sunday, and holidays, for not less than six hours.

76.    Holidays.

(a) The following days shall be school holidays: Thanksgiving
