HEREIN PRESCRIBED. THE NAMES OF ALL CANDIDATES
WHO HAVE BEEN DULY NOMINATED UNDER THE PRO-
VISIONS OF SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION FOR ELEC-
TION TO THE SEVERAL BOARD OF EDUCATION OFFICES
SHALL, EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF DEATH, BE PLACED ON
THE BALLOT. THE FOUR PERSONS AMONG THE EIGHT IN
THOSE YEARS WHEN ELECTIONS SHALL BE HELD FOR
FOUR MEMBERS TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
AT-LARGE AND THREE PERSONS AMONG THE SIX IN THOSE
YEARS WHEN ELECTIONS SHALL BE HELD FOR THREE
MEMBERS TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION AT-
LARGE, WHOSE NAMES ARE PLACED ON THE BALLOT AS
CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF
EDUCATION AT-LARGE WHO RECEIVE THE LARGEST NUM-
BER OF VOTES AT SAID ELECTION, SHALL BE DECLARED
ELECTED FOR THE RESPECTIVE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF-
FICES. ALL VOTING FOR THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCA-
TION MEMBERS, EITHER IN A PRIMARY ELECTION OR IN
A GENERAL ELECTION, SHALL BE CONDUCTED ON A NON-
PARTISAN BASIS AND ON A GENERAL COUNTY-WIDE TICK-
ET; NO DESIGNATION OF PARTY AFFILIATION SHALL BE
PLACED UPON ANY PETITION FOR NOMINATION, NOR
UPON ANY VOTING MACHINE OR PAPER BALLOT USED
AT ANY SAID PRIMARY OR GENERAL ELECTION.
37. Meetings: offices; and expenses.
(a) The county board of education shall hold an annual meeting
each year on the second Tuesday in July, or as near as possible
thereto in July, except that in Montgomery County such annual
meeting shall be held on or before the tenth day of January in each
year. At this meeting the board shall elect one of its members to
serve as president and one to serve as vice president. Other meetings
shall be held as the duties and business of the board may require. The
members of the county boards of education shall receive neither
salary nor compensation, but each member shall receive reimburse-
ment for traveling and other expenses incident to attending the
meetings and transacting the business of the board.
(b) All final actions of county boards of education shall be taken
at a public meeting, the minutes of which shall likewise be public
provided, however, that, WITH RESPECT TO DELIBERATIONS
ON LAND AND SITE ACQUISITIONS, PERSONNEL AND LA-
BOR RELATIONS, the board shall have the power to meet and delib-
erate in executive session.
38. Body politic; general powers.
The county board of education is hereby declared to be a body
politic and corporate by the name and style of the Board of Education
of........................................County, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, and shall be capable to sue and be sued, to use and
to have a common seal, and the same at their pleasure to alter or
break, and to exercise all the powers and privileges hereby granted
to or vested in them.
