to each of the associate judges of the People's Court of Baltimore
City, a salary of [$21,000.00] twenty-five thousand nine hundred and
twenty five dollars ($25,925.00)
TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($25,000.00) per annum, payable monthly. Each of said
judges shall devote to his duties a regular session on every day
except Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays and such other sessions
at such times as the chief judge deems necessary or advisable during
such eleven months in each year as the chief judge shall assign. No
judge of the people's court shall engage in the practice of law while
holding the position of judge. The chief judge shall make such
assignments in such manner as to provide regular sessions for the
transaction of business, and such other sessions as he shall prescribe,
throughout the entire year. The chief judge of said court may direct
that the chief constable's office shall be closed on Saturdays, so that
the clerk's office may be closed on Saturdays. All such sessions shall'
be held at such place as the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
City shall provide. THE SALARIES OF JUDGES PROVIDED
UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL NOT BE SUPPLEMENTED IN
ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 1317)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 125(a)
and (b) of AND TO ADD NEW SECTION 125(b-1) TO Article
26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume),
title "Courts," subtitle "Municipal Court of Baltimore City," to
provide for an increase in the salaries of the Chief Judge and
Associate Judges of the Municipal Court of Baltimore City AND
PROHIBITING SUPPLEMENTATION OF SALARIES.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 125 (a) and (b) of Article 26 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title "Courts," subtitle
"Municipal Court of Baltimore City," be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, AND NEW SECTION 125 (b-1)
IS ADDED TO SAID ARTICLE, TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY
AFTER SECTION 125(b) THEREOF to read as follows:

125.

(a) The chief judge of said court shall be paid a salary [of
$19,500.00] per annum equivalent to 85% of the salary paid to the

judges of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, and shall receive

$1,000 in addition as Chief Judge OF $25,925.00 TWENTY-FIVE
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($25,500.00). It shall be
the duty of the chief judge to care for the general business of the court
and the general administration thereof with supervisory control over
the several clerks and other supporting personnel. Without limiting
