CHAPTER 356
(House Bill 793)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 18-1. (b)
(40) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1967 Supplement, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County," subtitle
"County Commissioners," to exclude department heads, as defined
in this subsection, from the County Merit System and to specify
their number.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 18-1. (b) (40) of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1967 Supplement, being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's
County," subtitle "County Commissioners," be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

18-1. (b)

(40) Provide for a merit system for such county employees as
the Commissioners shall determine and to enact rules and regula-
tions therefor [.] provided, however, for the purposes of this
subsection those persons directly responsible to the Board of County
Commissioners and who exercise administrative supervision over a
department of county government shall be construed to be depart-
ment heads and excluded from the provisions of the County Merit
System, and provided, further, that there shall not be more than ten
(10) such department heads.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 357
(House Bill 803)

AN ACT to provide for the survey and establishment of the Upper
Pocomoke Sound portion of the Maryland-Virginia boundary line.

Whereas, The boundary line between the States of Maryland and
Virginia from the District of Columbia to the Atlantic Coast off Popes
Island was established by the Black-Jenkins Award of 1877, and the
award was surveyed and marked in 1929, by the Matthews-Nelson
