22A.

At any time prior to institution of a suit against a person for
violation of this subtitle, the Attorney General may enter a cease
and desist agreement with any person who is alleged to have engaged
in or be about to engage in an activity declared by this subtitle to
be unlawful providing for the immediate discontinuance of all prac-
tices set forth in the agreement and for such other action deemed
necessary to correct the results of such practices. No proceeding
shall be instituted thereafter by the Attorney General on the specific
activities covered by such an agreement unless the agreement shall
have been breached or violated.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 306
(House Bill 446)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Sections 362 and
363 (c) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965
Replacement Volume), title "Governor—Executive and Adminis-
trative Departments," subtitle "State of Maryland Office of Eco-
nomic Opportunity," to provide for appointment by the Governor
a Deputy Director for such office, and to provide that certain
personnel of the office shall be subject to the provisions of Article
64A of the Code, title "Merit System."

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 362 and 363 (c) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Governor—Execu-
tive and Administrative Departments," subtitle "State of Maryland
Office of Economic Opportunity," be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, all to read as follows:

362.

The Governor shall appoint an Executive Director of the Office
who shall be chief administrative and executive officer thereof. The
Governor shall also appoint a Deputy Director of the Office who
shall be the principal assistant to the Executive Director.

They shall not be subject to the provisions of Article 64A of this
Code, and shall be selected because of [his] their known experi-
ence and interest in the advancement and development of economic
opportunity. [He] They shall receive such [salary] salaries as
provided in the budget from time to time.

363.

(c) The Office may employ professional, technical, clerical, steno-
graphic, and other personnel to carry out its duties and functions
within the limits of budgetary appropriations from time to time.
