Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 298
(House Bill 390)

AN ACT to add new Section 21B to Article 83 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1968 Supplement), title "Sales and Notices,"
subtitle "Consumer Protection," to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 21A thereof providing that the use of any general referral
sales technique, plan, arrangement or agreement constitutes an
unlawful practice under this subtitle.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 21B be and it is hereby added to Article 83 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supplement), title "Sales and
Notices," subtitle "Consumer Protection," to follow immediately
after Section 21A thereof and to read as follows:

21B.

The use or employment of any general referral sales tech-
nique, plan, arrangement or agreement whereby the buyer is induced
to purchase goods or merchandise upon the seller's representation or
promise that if the buyer will furnish the seller the names of other
prospective buyers of like or identical goods or merchandise that the
seller will contact the named prospective buyers and the buyer will
receive a reduction with purchase price by means of a cash rebate,
commission, credit toward balance due or any other consideration,
constitutes an unlawful practice under this subtitle.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 299
(House Bill 393)

AN ACT to add new Section 2-6(b) to Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume and 1968 Supple-
ment), title "Election Code," subtitle "Election Boards and Em-
ployees," to follow immediately after Section 2-6(a) thereof,
providing for the appointment of a chief clerk for the Election
Board in Cecil County and generally relating thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 2-6 (b) be and it is hereby added to Article 33 of
