in Calvert County AND MAKING THE APPOINTMENTS SUB-
JECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF CALVERT COUNTY, AND.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 113A be and it is hereby added to the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Calvert County (1963 Edition, being Article 5 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Calvert County,"
subtitle "Circuit Court," to be under the new subheading "Stenogra-
phers," to follow immediately after Section 113 thereof, and to read
as follows:
113A. Stenographers.
Any THE judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit resident in Calvert
County SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF CALVERT COUNTY, may appoint a com-
petent secretary who has had previous experience in secretarial work,
involving duties that demonstrate the ability to make rapid and
accurate transcripts and to exercise independent judgment. The
secretary shall hold the position at the pleasure of the judge making
the appointment and shall receive compensation therefor in the fol-
lowing manner:
The secretary's salary shall be paid by the County Commissioners
of Calvert County in accordance with the scale for comparable em-
ployment established by the County Commissioners of Calvert
County. Such compensation SHALL NOT EXCEED SIX THOU-
SAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,500.00) ANNUALLY, shall
be levied annually by the County Commissioners of the county, AND
shall be paid as are the salaries of county employees, and charged
to the expenses of the Circuit Court of Calvert County.
Nothing herein contained shall prevent two or more judges from
employing the same secretary.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 284)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
108(16) (e) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968
Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Trial Magis-
trates System," to vest authority in the Chief Judge of the People's
Court of Prince George's County to appoint a Clerk and a Deputy
Clerk of said Court and to provide for the relocation of Clerks of
the Branches of said Court in accordance with the Chief Judges'
determination, and relating generally to the location and opera-
tions of the People's Court of Prince George's County, and of its
branches.
