Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

(House Bill 125)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3(c) of
Article 62 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement
Volume), title "Marriages," changing the disbursement of the fee
that the Clerk of the Court in Cecil County receives for performing
a marriage ceremony.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3(c) of Article 62 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Marriages," be and it is hereby
repealed and rt RE-enacted, with amendments, and to read as follows:

(c) Except in Allegany and Montgomery counties clerks, depu-
ties or other clerks shall receive for performing a marriage ceremony
a fee of ten dollars ($10.00), of which three dollars ($3.00) shall
be retained by the clerks and deposited and disbursed in the same
manner as other fees collected by the clerks, and the remaining
seven dollars ($7.00) of the fee shall be paid by the clerks monthly
into the general funds of the county or City of Baltimore, except
that in Garrett County, the clerk shall pay five dollars ($5.00) of
the remaining seven dollars ($7.00) monthly into the general funds
of the county and forward the remaining two dollars ($2.00) to
the Garrett County Historical Society for its general use; and in
Cecil County the clerk shall retain five dollars ($5.00) and deposit
and disburse it in the same manner as other fees collected by him
and shall pay five dollars ($5.00) into the general fund of the county.
In Allegany County, the clerks, deputies or other clerks shall receive
a fee of twelve dollars ($12.00), which shall be allocated and dis-
bursed as follows: Three dollars ($3.00) shall be retained by the
clerks, seven dollars ($7.00) shall be paid over to the general funds
of Allegany County; and two dollars ($2.00) shall be paid over by
the clerks quarterly on July 1, October 1, January 1, and April 1,
of each year to the Allegany County Historical Society for its gen-
eral use. In Montgomery County, the clerks, deputies or other clerks
shall receive a fee of twelve dollars ($12.00), which shall be al-
located and disbursed as follows: Three dollars ($3.00) shall be
retained by the clerks, seven dollars ($7.00) shall be paid over to
the general funds of Montgomery County; and two dollars ($2.00)
shall be paid over by the clerks quarterly on July 1, October 1,
January 1, and April 1, of each year to the Montgomery County
Historical Society, Inc., for its general use. No clerk, deputy or
other clerk shall receive any other fee, remuneration, or gift of any
kind for performing a marriage ceremony not authorized herein.
