CHAPTER 226
(Senate Bill 394)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 26 (b)

of Article 97 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supple-
ment), title "Weights and Measures," subtitle "Standard Weights
and Measures," to classify certain products as liquids and to
provide for the packaging of certain fluid dairy and related
products.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 26 (b) of Article 97 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Supplement), title "Weights and Measures," subtitle
"Standard Weights and Measures," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

26.

(b) Ice cream, ice milk, frozen custard, mellorine, parevine,
sherbet, water ice or fruit ice, shall be deemed a liquid. When sold
or offered for sale in packages or containers containing [one gill]
one-half pint or more, and up to and including one gallon, these
commodities shall be packaged only in units of '[one gill] one-half
pint, one pint, one quart, one-half gallon, and one gallon provided
that packages in units of less than one-half pint shall be allowed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 227
(Senate Bill 395)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 192 (c-1)
(i) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supple-
ment), title "Health," subtitle "Adulteration of Food and Drink,"
to provide for the packaging AND LABELING of ice milk and to
remove the time limit for conforming with such standards.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 192 (c-1) (i) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Adulteration
of Food and Drink," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

192.

(c-1) (i) Ice milk means the pure, clean frozen products made
from a combination of "milk products," sugar, dextrose, corn syrup
in dry or liquid form, water, with or without egg or egg products,
with harmless flavoring and with or without harmless coloring, and
with or without added "stabilizer" and emulsifier composed of whole-
some edible material. It shall contain not more than one-half of one
