and 1968 Supplement), title "Work, Labor and Employment," sub-
title "State Employees," be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 88B
22.
(a) Salary. Each employee of the Department shall receive such
salary, including any increment based upon length of service, as may
now or hereafter be prescribed in the budget for the rank or civilian
classification held by such person. In addition to such salary, police
employees in one or more ranks may, to the extent permitted by rule
and by funds available for such purpose, receive additional com-
pensation for (1) hours of duty performed in any week in excess of
the number of weekly hours regularly prescribed for such police
employees, and/or (2) hours of duty performed by such employees
in lieu of compensatory time to which they may be entitled.
23.
(a) Schedule. Salaries as referred to in Section 22 (a) shall be
paid to police employees in accordance with rank and length of service
at the following rates (as established July 1, 1967):
