authorize the licensee to operate any motor vehicle of the class (es)
specified thereon.

(d)    The Department, upon issuing a driver's license, shall indi-
cate thereon the type or general class (es) of vehicle(s) the licensee
may drive.

(e)    The Department shall establish such qualifications as it be-
lieves reasonably necessary for the safe operation of the various
types, sizes, or combinations of vehicles, and shall appropriately
examine each applicant to determine his qualifications according to
the type or general class of licenses applied for.

(f)    Every driver's license issued under this subtitle shall be
clearly identified as either a Class A, Class B, Class C or Class D
license. Any such license may, in addition to one of the foregoing
classes, be identified as a Class E license.

(g)    A Class A license shall authorize the licensee to drive com-
binations of vehicles and any vehicle which the holder of Class B,
C or D license may drive, provided, however, that the licensee must

be at least 21 years old to drive any bus.

(h) A Class B license shall authorize the licensee to drive trucks
with a gross weight 17,000
20,000 pounds or more, and any vehicle
which the holder of a Class C or D license may drive.-, provided, how-

ever, that the licensee must be at least 21 years old to drive any bus.

(i) A Class C license shall authorize the licensee to drive any
bus and any vehicle which the holder of a Class D license may drive.

(j) A Class D license shall authorize the licensee to drive any
vehicle except (i) combinations of vehicles, (ii) trucks with a gross
weight of more than 17,000
20,000 pounds, (iii) buses and (iv) motor-
cycles.

(k) A Class E license shall authorize the licensee to drive motor-
cycles.

(l) Subject to the provisions of this Article, nothing in the sec-
tion shall prevent the holders of Class B, C, or D licenses from
operating the types of vehicles which they are licensed to operate
and to which is attached A
SEMI-TRAILER OR a trailer as defined
in Section
SECTIONS 2(51) AND 2(63) of this Article.

9 2 A.

(a)    A fee of eight dollars ($8.00) shall be paid to the Department
at the time an application is submitted to the Department for an
original license.

(b)    A fee of two dollars ($2.00) shall be paid for the renewal
and conversion of a license to a Class A, Class B, Class C or
Class D if the applicant provides acceptable evidence of experience
in operating a vehicle in the class for which application is made.

(c)    A fee of eight dollars ($8.00) shall be paid for the renewal
and conversion of a license to a Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D or
Class E if the applicant cannot provide acceptable evidence of ex-
