the present sheriff of the county, and the sheriff of the several counties
now are, and shall perform such other duties as shall be required of him
by the county.

The warden of the jail shall provide all needed supplies for the
prisoners in custody under the direction of the county, and abide by and
observe all such rules and regulations as may be established by the county
concerning the jail building and the inmates thereof, and shall admit no
visitors to the prisoners except in accordance with such rules; he shall keep
a complete record of the prisoners committed to his custody, when and by
whom committed, upon what charge, and when released, and shall on
Monday of each week report to the county the number of prisoners con-
fined, with such other information as may be required by it; he shall also
keep full and complete account of all supplies received at the jail and dis-
bursements made by him. [The warden of the jail and his deputy shall
reside in the jail building. ]

Sec. 7-92. Same—merit system employees.

The warden of the county jail, [shall hold his position for the term
of two years, unless sooner removed by the county for incompetency, dis-
obedience, neglect of duty or other cause, which in the judgment of the
county may be sufficient for such removal, but in no case shall he be removed
except upon charges involving his fitness for the position and after notice
thereof in writing and the opportunity to be heard upon same be given
him.] his deputy, watchmen and assistants shall be in the classified serv-
ice and subject to the personnel law of Baltimore County and the
Personnel Act, codified as title 22 of the Baltimore County Code, and all
pertinent rules and regulations formulated thereunder.

Sec. 7-93. Same—compensation.

The warden of the jail shall receive such compensation as the county
from time to time may determine to be reasonable and proper [,]. [and
shall be permitted to occupy the dwelling portions of the jail free of
charge.]

Sec. 7-95. Food, supplies, etc., for jail and prisoners.

The county shall furnish the jail building [, including the dwelling
part thereof,] with all necessary fuel and all requisite food and supplies
for the prisoners confined in the jail, and the warden shall have the same
cooked and prepared for the prisoners.

The county shall, so far as practicable, furnish all jail supplies by
contract to be made semiannually, and due notice of the award of such
contracts shall be given.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 7-96
of said Code, title "Courts, Fines and Imprisonment," Article VII. "Jail
and Warden," be and it is hereby repealed.

Section 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That title 8 of said
Code and Sections 8-1, 8-2, 8-3, 8-4 and 8-5 thereof, title "Division Fences,"
be and they are hereby repealed.

Section 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 11-44
of said Code, title "Fines and Taxation Generally," Article V. "Taxes and
Tax Sales,&qu
