SEAT PLEASANT                                     1991

applying for registration who are entitled to vote under the provisions of
this charter; and for the purpose of ascertaining the facts, the said officers
of registration are hereby empowered to administer oaths to applicants
and witnesses, touching the qualifications of applicants for registration
under the terms of this charter. Such officers of registration shall sit, with
their official books, for registration of qualified applicants, from 8 A.M.
to 6 P.M., on the Tuesday and Wednesday preceding every municipal
election, a right of challenge and of presentation of facts, relating to
qualifications, and a right of appeal to the Council from the decision of the
registration officers is hereby granted to any person or persons aggrieved
by the decision of such officers. The Council shall sit between the hours of
8 P.M. and 10 P.M. on Thursday before election, and at such other times as
may be necessary prior to the election, to hear such appeals if any, and the
evidence relative thereto. The decision of the Council on such appeals shall
be final. The Council shall give at least five days' notice of the time and
place of sitting of the officers of registration, by means of handbills,
posted in at least ten conspicuous places, in said town, or by advertise-
ments in one or more of the newspapers of general circulation in the said
town. The said officers of registration, as soon as their sittings are fin-
ished, shall forthwith transmit to the Clerk of said town, an alphabetical
list of the persons registered at such sittings. The said Clerk shall on the
same day, post in his office a copy of such alphabetical list of the persons
registered as aforesaid, so as to be available for public inspection.

Section 2. BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED that
Section 68-15(b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County, Maryland, (1963 Edition), titled, "Seat Pleasant," subtitled "Reg-
istration of Voters," and subheaded "General Registration," being a part
of the Charter of the Town of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

68-15. Registration of Voters

(b) General Registration

A general registration of all voters residing in the said town shall be
had before the first municipal ejection to be held under the provisions of
this subtitle. Such general registration shall thereafter be held at such
times as the Council may by ordinance direct. The Council shall appoint
[three] registration officers to conduct registration with the least possible
delay and inconvenience to applicants applying for registration; and the
Council may by ordinance direct officers of registration to sit for the
registration of qualified voters on such additional days as may in the judg-
ment of the Council be necessary; provided, however, that nothing herein
contained shall be deemed to relieve the officers of registration from sitting
on the days and the hours herein specifically provided.
