1936                                 MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

(3) Grade, straighten, widen, alter, improve, or close up any exist-
ing town public street or way or part thereof.

(4) Pave, surface, repave, or resurface any town public street or
way or part thereof.

(5)    Install, construct, reconstruct, repair, and maintain curbs
and/or gutters along any town public street or way or part thereof.

(6)    Construct, reconstruct, maintain, and repair bridges.

(7)    Name town public streets or ways.

(8)    Have surveys, plans, specifications and estimates made for any
of the above activities or projects or parts thereof.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the date of
adoption of this Resolution is January 6th, 1969, and the amendment of
the Charter of the Town of Easton hereby enacted shall become effective
on February 25th, 1969, unless a proper petition for a referendum hereon
shall be filed as permitted by law, provided a complete and exact copy of
this Resolution shall be continuously posted on the bulletin board of the
Town Hall until February 15th, 1969, and provided further that a copy of
the title of this Resolution shall be published in The Easton Star Democrat,
a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Easton, or in any other
newspaper of such general circulation, once in each of the weeks of Janu-
ary 13th, 1969, January 20th, 1969, January 27th, 1969, and February 3rd,
1969.

Section 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of
Easton is hereby specifically enjoined to carry out the provisions of Sec-
tion 2 hereof, and, as evidence of said compliance, the Mayor of Easton
shall cause to be affixed to the minutes of this meeting appropriate certifi-
cates of publication of the newspaper or newspapers in which the title of
this Resolution shall have been published and shall declare the Charter
Amendment hereby enacted to be effective by affixing his signature hereto
in the space provided on the effective date thereof.

Section 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as soon as the
Charter Amendment hereby enacted shall become effective, either as herein
provided or following a referendum, the Mayor of Easton shall send sepa-
rately by registered mail, to the Secretary of State of Maryland, and to
the Department of Legislative Reference of Maryland, a clear, certified
copy of the text of Section 13 of Article 23-A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1955 Supp.), a certified copy of this Resolution showing the
number of members of the Council voting for or against it and, if there
be a referendum, a report on the votes cast for or against the amendment
hereby enacted at such referendum thereon, and the date of such refer-
endum.

The Charter Amendment enacted by the foregoing Resolution became
effective this 25th day of February, 1969.
