CHAPTER 60
(House Bill 806)
AN ACT to add new Section 40(h)(3) to Article 10 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Attor-
neys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney,"
to follow immediately after Section 40(h) (2) thereof, providing
that the assistant State's attorneys in Cecil County shall have the
same legal powers as the State's attorney to represent the State
before grand juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 40(h) (3) be and it is hereby added to Article 10
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume),
title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's
Attorney," to follow immediately after Section 40(h)(2) thereof,
and to re-enact as follows:
40.
(h) In Cecil County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is seven
thousand two hundred dollars ($7,200).
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint two assistant State's
attorneys, to serve at the pleasure of the State's Attorney. The
assistant State's attorney's salary is thirty-six hundred dollars
($3,600).
(3) The assistant State's attorneys shall have the same legal
powers as the State's Attorney to represent the State before grand
juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings.
(4) The State's Attorney's appropriation for special work and
the employment of extra help is five hundred dollars ($500), to be
spent only with the approval of the judge of the Circuit Court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
