MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                      1791

House Bill No. 297—Jurors in Prince George's County

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 9
and 10(g) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968
Replacement Volume and 1968 Supplement), title "Juries," subtitle
"Qualification and Selection of Jurors," to provide for the drawing of
additional names for jury duty, to provide for the filling of vacancies
on juries and to make provisions for future jury duty when a prospec-
tive juror has been excused and relating generally to the selection and
qualification of jurors in Prince George's County.

May 28, 1969.

Honorable Thomas Hunter Lowe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Con-
stitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 297 and am returning it to
you.

This Bill repeals and re-enacts with amendments Sections 9 and
10(g) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, relating to
the selection and qualifications of jurors in Prince George's County.

Senate Bill 637, which was enacted by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 2, 1969, repeals these same Sections of the Code
and enacts uniform statewide provisions relating to the selection and
qualifications of jurors. Because of the inconsistency between the
two Bills, and because the enactment of Senate Bill 637 renders House
Bill 297 unnecessary, I have decided to veto House Bill 297.

Sincerely,

/s/ Marvin Mandel,

Governor.

House Bill No. 333—Errors in School Laws

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 17A,
175(f) and 325(a-1) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Supplement), title "Public Education," subtitles "Chapter
2. Formation of Boards," "Chapter 15. Teachers' Associations," and
"Chapter 35. Maryland Council for Higher Education," amending the
laws concerning education in this State in order to make certain
corrective changes in the language and references therein.

May 21, 1969.

Honorable Thomas Hunter Lowe
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Con-
stitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 333 and am returning it to
