Edition, being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," subtitle "Zoning," to in-
crease building permit fees in St. Mary's County AND TO SET
A MINIMUM PERMIT FEE.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 217(b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of St. Mary's
County (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," subtitle "Zoning,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

217.

(b) Prior to the commencement of construction work on any
new buildings or structures of any kind within the limit of St. Mary's
County, the person, firm or corporation so constructing shall apply
to the County Commissioners for a permit. [The Commissioners
shall issue a permit based on the following scale: A two ($2.00)
fee shall be required for construction costs up to $1,000.00, a fee
of five dollars ($5.00) for construction costs over $1,000.00 but less
than $10,000.00; a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for construction costs
over $10,000.00.] For each permit issued, the Commissioners shall
collect a fee equal to one-quarter of one per cent of the cost of the
improvements
BUT IN NO EVENT SHALL THE FEE BE LESS
THAN $5.00. It shall be unlawful to engage in construction without
said permit and to knowingly under-estimate construction costs in
an application for said permit. Any person violating the provisions
of this subsection shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars
($25.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) and may be
enjoined from continuation of the construction until a permit is
secured. All duties of inspection appropriate to the administration and
enforcement of this subsection shall be performed by the Office of
County Inspector.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 1134)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 15 of
Article 78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Public Works," subtitle "Board of Public
Works," subheading "Sale or other disposition of State property
or rights," to provide that sale of certain real estate investments
owned by Maryland State Retirement Systems shall not be exe-
cuted by the Board of Public Works.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 15 of Article 78A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
