Act, which provides certain monies for acquisition of land and
improvements thereon adjacent to Old State House, St. Mary's
City; and to extend for two years the period during which the
said item may be placed under contract.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the provisions of Section 10 of Chapter 759 of the Acts of
1967, be and they are hereby waived insofar as they impose a time
limit for placing under contract an item, Section 5 (C) (4), in said
Chapter 759 and found on page 1685 1675 of the Laws of 1967, mak-
ing available the sum of sixty thousand dollars ($60,000.) for acquisi-
tion of land and improvements thereon adjacent to Old State House,
St. Mary's City. There shall be allowed an additional period of two
years, beginning on the effective date of this Act, for placing this
project under contract. If this project shall not have been placed
under contract within a period of two years, beginning on the effec-
tive date of this Act, then it shall be deemed to have been abandoned
and the other provisions of Section 10 of Chapter 759 of the Acts
of 1967 shall be fully effective as to this project.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 622
(Senate Bill 725)

AN ACT to repeal Section 42A (a) of Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1968 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle
"Miscellaneous Provisions," and to enact a new Section 42A (a)
in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section so repealed
requiring each county and Baltimore City to appropriate and place
on deposit with the State Department of Health certain funds to
defray the cost of certain hospital services rendered indigent and
medically indigent patients, revising certain provisions concerning
the cost of hospital care for indigent and medically indigent per-
sons and making particular provision for these costs in the fiscal
year of 1970.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 42A (a) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Miscellaneous Pro-
visions," be and it is hereby repealed; and that new Section 42A (a)
of said Article of said Code, title and subtitle be and it is hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section so re-
pealed, and to read as follows:

42A.

(a) Each county and Baltimore City during the fiscal year 1971
and each year thereafter shall place on deposit with the State De-
partment of Health, funds equal to 20% of the costs for the hospital
care of indigent and medically indigent persons in the respective
political subdivisions, to permit the State Department of Health to
