the borrower is in service as a full-time volunteer under title VIII of
the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.
The board may, by rule,
determine whether any such period shall be included in determining
the ten-year period or the fifteen-year period provided in subsection
(b) hereof.

(b) Such a borrower shall not be required to repay in full any
such loan over a period of less than five years or more than ten years
after commencement of repayment as provided in Section 7 (a) of
this Article; provided, however, (1) that the total of the payments
by a borrower during any year of repayment with respect to all loans
made or guaranteed by the corporation to him shall not be less than
three hundred sixty dollars or the balance of all such loans, which-
ever amount is less; and (2) notwithstanding any other provision of
this Article to the contrary, the period of any [college] loan made or
guaranteed by the corporation shall not exceed fifteen years from the
execution of the note or written agreement evidencing it.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 519)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 267 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume and 1968 Cumulative Supplement), title "Public Educa-
tion," subtitle "Chapter 27. General Assembly Scholarship
Awards," to enable the recipient of a House of Delegates scholar-
ship to the University of Maryland to apply the value of such
scholarship to the tuition at an
accredited community college in the
county of the residence of such recipient. TO CREATE A PRO-
GRAM OF STATE SCHOLARSHIPS APPOINTED BY MEM-
BERS OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES FOR STUDENTS
ENROLLED IN COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND TO ENABLE
THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES TO GRANT
TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS ENROLLED AT
COMMUNITY COLLEGES WITHIN THE STATE IN LIEU OF
THE TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF
MARYLAND.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 267 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume and 1968 Cumulative Supplement), title
"Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 27. General Assembly Scholar-
ship Awards," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
