fessions enumerated in this Act except insofar as these laws conflict
with the provisions of this subtitle.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 330)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36 of
Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Merit System," granting the right to a sus-
pended employee to appeal his suspension to the Commissioner,
irrespective of the period of the suspension.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 36 of Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Merit System," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

36.

The appointing authority may for disciplinary purposes suspend
an employee. Every such suspension shall be without pay; pro-
vided, however, that any employee who is suspended by the appoint-
ing authority [for a period aggregating more than fifteen working
days in any calendar year] may appeal his [such additional] sus-
pension [or suspensions] to the Commissioner, and in case of the
Commissioner's disapproval he shall have power to restore pay to
the [employee so] suspended employee. With respect to his em-
ployees the Commissioner shall be deemed the appointing authority
and the Governor shall act in the place and stead of the Commissioner
for the purpose of this section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(2)(d) of Article 15A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968
Replacement Volume), title "Budget and Procurement," subtitle

Police Protection Aid for certain subdivisions.
