1. Qualification and salary.
The comptroller shall file his bond and qualify by making the
declaration and taking the oath required by the Constitution and
laws of this State, before the Governor, on the third Monday of
January next ensuing his election, or as soon thereafter as practi-
cable; and from and after the third Monday of January, 1967, the said
Comptroller shall receive a salary of twenty thousand dollars
($20,000.00) per annum [.]; provided, that from and after the third
Monday in January, 1971, the said Comptroller shall receive such
annual salary as shall be set forth in the budget.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6 of
Article 32A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume), title "Department of Law," subtitle "In General," pro-
viding that the salary of the Attorney General shall be as set
forth in the budget after a certain date.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6 of Article 32A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1967 Replacement Volume), title "Department of Law," subtitle
"In General," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Sec. 6. Salary of Attorney General; assistants, clerks, etc.
The Attorney General shall receive a salary of $15,000.00 per year.
He is authorized to appoint six assistants, one of whom he shall
designate and who shall be known as deputy attorney general, two of
whom shall be known as assistant attorneys general, one of whom
shall be known as special assistant attorney general for the Comp-
troller of the treasury, one of whom shall be known as special
assistant attorney general of the State Roads Commission and the
other of whom shall be known as special attorney for the State
Accident Fund. The Attorney General is also authorized to appoint
such additional assistants, special attorneys and law clerks as
may from time to time be authorized in the budget. The deputy
attorney general and all assistant and special assistant attorneys
general and special attorneys shall be practicing lawyers of the State
of Maryland in good standing, each of whom shall hold his respective
office during the pleasure of the Attorney General and each of whom
shall receive such salary as shall be provided in the State budget.
All of the salaries above provided shall be payable monthly. The
salaries of the special attorneys of the Department assigned to
the following agencies: The State Roads Commission; the Prop-
