TORNEY OF DORCHESTER COUNTY WHO IS IN OFFICE
ON THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ACT, FOR THE RE-
MAINDER OF THE TERM IN WHICH HE THEN IS SERV-
ING. IT IS THE LEGISLATIVE INTENT THAT THE IN-
CREASE IN SALARY FOR THE STATE'S ATTORNEY SHALL
TAKE EFFECT AS OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE TERM
OF THE PERSON WHO IS ELECTED TO THAT OFFICE AT
THE TIME OF THE REGULAR ELECTIONS IN NOVEM-
BER, 1970.

Sec. 2 3. And be it further enacted, That SUBJECT TO THE
PROVISIONS OF SECTION 2 HEREINABOVE this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 1104)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 323(a)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Dorchester County (1961 Edi-
tion, being Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Dorchester County," subtitle "Licenses," as added by
Chapter 374 of the Acts of 1957; providing that no faith healer
shall be licensed in Dorchester County and making an exception
as to Christian Science practitioners.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 323(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Dorchester
County (1961 Edition, being Article 10 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Dorchester County," subtitle "Licenses,"
as added by Chapter 374 of the Acts of 1957; be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

323.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to carry
on the business of or to practice the craft of palmistry, fortune
telling, spiritualism, clairvoyance and phrenology or the like, within
Dorchester County, State of Maryland, unless each and every such
person or persons shall first obtain from the clerk of the Circuit
Court for Dorchester County, Maryland, a license or licenses to carry
on such business or practice such craft in said county, for which
they shall pay to the clerk of said court the sum of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00) for each year or a fraction thereof, for the use
of the said Dorchester County and they shall pay to the clerk of said
court a further sum of Fifty Cents (50¢) as his fee for issuing same,
such license to be issued in the name of the person or persons apply-
ing, and to be issued to run from the first day of May of the year
in which issued, to and including the 30th day of April in the
succeeding year [.]; provided that no license shall be issued to any
person professing to be a "faith healer" or the like; and provided,
further, that this prohibition is not deemed to include Christian
Science practitioners.
