Each member of said Board shall receive twenty-five dollars
($25.00) for each day employed in the actual discharge of his or
her official duties, not to exceed in any one year the sum of three
thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($3,750.00) for any member of
the Board, and his or her necessary expenses so incurred. There
shall at all times be available for consultation at least one member
of the Board. The compensation and expenses of the members and
officers of said Board, and all expenses, including office help and
professional advice, and services which, in the opinion of said Board,
are proper and necessary to discharge its duties and to enforce the
law, shall be paid out of such fund upon the approval of the chair-
man of said Board. The salaries shall be paid by the Board at the
rate per diem of actual service herein provided and traveling ex-
penses, in accordance with State regulations, shall be allowed to
members of the Board for attendance at Board meetings. Said Board
may also employ inspectors to assist the Board in the discharge of
its duties. The compensation of the inspectors shall be [as provided
in the State budget and be payable out of the funds of the Board.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

(House Bill 1061)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 6 through
11 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Arson
and Burning," and to add new Section 11½ to the same Article and
title to follow immediately after Section 11 thereof, to increase
the penalties for crimes involving arson and burning, AND to pre-
scribe minimum and maximum sentences for such crimes, and to
provide mandatory sentences for second and third offenders con-
victed of crimes involving arson and burning MAXIMUM SEN-
TENCES FOR SUCH CRIMES.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 6 through 11 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), be and they are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments and that new Section 11½
be and it is hereby added to the same Article and title to follow
immediately after Section 11, all to read as follows: PEALED AND
