viously been adjudicated a delinquent child and committed to an
institution is released from the commitment under the supervision
of an agency designated by the court under conditions the judge
or the agency deems proper.

(r) "Guardianship of the person of a child or minor" means
the duty and authority to make major decisions in matters having
a permanent effect on the life and/or development of the child or
minor and his general welfare.

(s) "Legal Custody" means a status created by a valid court or-
der which vests in the custodian the right to have physical posses-
sion and control of a child or minor and to determine where and
with whom he lives and the right to consent to ordinary medical
care subject to the powers, rights, duties, and responsibilities of the
guardian of a person of the child or minor and subject also to any
residual parental rights and responsibilities. When an individual
is granted legal custody, he shall exercise the rights and responsi-
bilities personally, unless otherwise authorized by the court.

(t) "Residual parental rights and responsibilities" means those
rights and responsibilities remaining with the parent after the trans-
fer of legal custody or guardianship of the person, including, but
not limited to, the right to reasonable visitation, consent to adoption,
the right to determine the child's religious affiliation, and the re-
sponsibility for support;

(u) "Commit" means to transfer legal custody;

(v) "Custodian" means a person, or agency, other than a parent
or legal guardian to whom legal custody of the child has been given
by order of the court.

(w) "Intake Consultant" is that person assigned by the Depart-
ment of Juvenile Services to the respective Juvenile Courts to pro-
vide the intake services set forth in this subtitle.

(x) "Adjudicatory hearing" means a hearing to determine the
truth of the allegations in the petition.

(y) "Disposition hearing" is a hearing to determine (1)
whether the child is in need of supervision, treatment, or rehabilita-
tion; and if so, (2) the nature of the supervision, treatment, or re-
habilitation.

(z) The singular includes the plural, the plural the singular, and
the masculine, the feminine, when consistent with the intent of this
subtitle.

(aa) "County" means each county in the State and in the City of

Baltimore.

70-2.

(a)    The court has exclusive original jurisdiction:

(1)    over persons alleged to be delinquent children;

(2)    over persons alleged to be dependent children;

(3)    over children alleged to be neglected children;
(4)
    over children alleged to be in need of supervision;
(5)
    over children alleged to be mentally handicapped;
