(2)    without substantial fault on the part of his parents, guard-
ian, or other custodian, who is habitually disobedient, ungovernable,
and beyond their control;

(3)    who so deports himself as to injure or endanger himself or
others; or

(4) who has committed an offense applicable only to children;
and

(5) is in need of supervision REQUIRES GUIDANCE, treat-
ment, or rehabilitation.

(j) "Neglected child" means a child who REQUIRES THE AID
OF THE COURT; AND EITHER

(1) Requires the aid of the court; and either

(2) (1) has been abandoned or deserted by his parents, guardian
or other custodian; or

(3) (2) whose parent, guardian, or other custodian legally re-
sponsible for his care does not adequately supply him with food, cloth-
ing, shelter, education, medical
OR OTHER REMEDIAL CARE
RECOGNIZED BY STATE LAW or other care or control although
financially able, or offered the financial means to do so; or

(4) (3) who suffers or is likely to suffer serious harm from an im-
proper home environment or guardianship, including the lack of
moral supervision or guidance, of his parents, guardian or custodian.

(k) "Dependent child" means a child who has been deprived of
adequate support or care by reason of the death, continued absence
from the home, or physical, mental or emotional incapacity or dis-
ability of his parent, guardian, or other custodian.

(l) "Mentally handicapped child" means a child who:

(1)    is or may be expected to be partially or totally incapacitated
for education or remunerative occupation because of retarded
mental development or severe emotional disturbance;

(2)    may be a danger to himself or the person or property of
others due to severe emotional disturbance; or

(3)    is mentally defective or mentally ill.

(m) "Detention" means the temporary care of children, who,
pending court disposition, require secure custody for the protection
of themselves or the community, in physically restricting facilities.

(n) "Shelter care" means the temporary care of children in
physically unrestricting facilities, pending court disposition.

(o) "Probation" means a status created by a valid court order
whereby a minor adjudicated a delinquent child is to remain subject
to supervision of the court or an agency designated by the court,
under conditions the Judge or the agency deems proper.

(p) "Protective Supervision" means a status created by a valid
court order in proceedings whereby a minor is adjudicated in need
of supervision or as mentally handicapped.

(q) "Aftercare supervision" is a status created by a valid court
order in delinquency proceedings whereby a minor who has pre-
