With the Propper hand of him the Said James & here in Court p^rduced

may appear and the Said James to the Said Joshua otherwise --

Called Joseph in his life time being indebted did assume on

himself and to the sd Joshua otherwise called Joseph in his life

time the Same Sum would well & truely Content & pay , Never

the less the sd James the sd Sum of two thousand pounds of

Tobacco to the sd Joshua otherwise called Joseph, in his life time

nor to the sd Martha Admr^x as afd, nor to the sd Anthony & Martha

Since the marriage between them had Solomnized nor to any

of them the Same hath not paid to the damage of the sd Anthony

& Martha of 4000 Pounds of tobacco, & thereof they bring their -

This Bill bindeth me James Jones of Somerset County to pay

or Cause to be paid to Joseph Light his Heirs or Assigns y^e just

Sum of two thousand lb tob Caske merchantable tobacco & Caske

to be paid Convenient in Pocomoke River in October next & for

p^rformance I bind              & Successors witness my hand and

The Originall Writt being returned Non est Inventus, the

Declaracon & Bill being read, the Court being Satisfied with

the Verity of the Bill , the Plt humbly Craved an Attachm^t agt

the goods &ca of the Dft with Cost &ca. Ord^r granted for y^e Same

for y^e Debt declared with Cost, Giving Security according to Law

Whereupon Came the Plt & ffra Joyce & did p^r Recognizance in

Open Court acknowledge them Selves to be indebted to the Defend^t

in the Sum of four thousand pounds of tobacco with Condition &ca.

that if the Absent Defend^t doe appear to the Original accon &

plead in Barr of the Same or otherwise discount y^e Same or any p^rt

that then they will be responsible as y^e law in Such Cases doth require
