George Layfield Esqr plt Somerset County Ss // Walter Talbott Dft } Walter Talbott of this County ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Planter was attached to answer unto George Layfield Esqr of a plea that he render unto him his reasonable accot. of a Cropp of & Indian Corne made by a Servant of the Said Layfield Named black Will wch to render he ought. - And whereupon the sd George by Peter Dent his Attorney complains that the sd George the 14th day of June in ye year of our Lord - 1692 at Monocan within the Jurisdiction of this Court did put – One Negro Slave known by the Name of Black Will to the sd Walter to make & finish a Cropp of Corn & tobacco and ye sd – Walter the Said Negro So having the sd Slave did make & finish - a Cropp of Corn & Tobacco of a Considerable Value & the Same accot hath not rendered, And the Same to render hath denyed a doth Still deny to the damage of the Sd George of two thousand pounds of tobacco, & thereof he prayes remedy. – – Dent pr Quer Plegs &ca. Jno Doe Rich Roe } The Decln being read & the matter fully Considered by the Worll. Court doe Ordr a Non Sute agt ye plt with Cost &ca.
Coll David Browne Plt Somerset County Ss // Jno Johnson of Jericho Dft } John Johnson of Jerichoe in ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Somerset County was attached to answer unto David Browne of a plea of debt &ca. — And whereupon the Said David by Robert Pirrie his Attorney Complains that whereas the Said John the 12th day of August in the year of Our Lord 1691 at Monocan within this Court by his Certain Bond wth a Condicon became indebted unto the sd David in the full & just Sum of Two thousand Six hundred & eighty & four pounds of good Sound Mertble Tobacco in Caske to Containe the Same which he obliged himself his Heirs &ca to pay unto the sd David him his Heirs &ca at Jericho afd which Bond with a Condicon he bringeth here into Court Signed with the propper hand & Seal of the said John the date whereof is the day & year afd. Nevertheless the sd John the Sum afd according to the tenour of the sd Bond with a Condicon unto the Said David he hath not paid but hath hitherto refused & doth Still refuse although often demanded to ye damage of the Said David of 2684 lbs of tob & thereupon he brings this Sute.
