was attachaed to answer unto Wm: Cumin of a plea of Trespass on y^e

Case &ca. And whereupon the Said Wm by Peter Dent his Atto^rney

Saith that on the 10^th day of Jan^ry in the year of o^r Lord 1693 at Belfast

in the Kingdome of Ireland, that is to Say at Pocomoke within y^e

Jurisdiction of this Court the sd Rob^t in Consideration that the sd

William would Shipp him Self on board of the Shipp Anna Hellena

& use the utmost of his Skill &endeavour to p^rforme a Voyage by

gods Grace then intended to be made from the Towne of Belfast in

the Kingdome of Ireland to the Island of ffyall & from thence to

Virginia or Maryland & So for Europe againe, that then the Said

Robert Browne would well & truely pay to the sd Wm the Sum of

Two pound ten shilling Sterling p^r month for every month y^t

he the Said Wm should be in his Service or employm^t and

the Said William in fact Saith that he giving Credit to the p^rmise

of him y^e Said Rob^t Soe as aforesd made, did enter & ship him

Self on board the sd Shipp y^e day & year aforesd & did p^rsue the

Said Voyage from Belfast afd to the Port of ffyall & from thence

to Pocomoke in Maryland, and did Continue in the Servic of

the sd Browne from the Said 16^th day of Jan^ry 1695 to the 5^th

day of October 1695, which in the whole amounted to one

year nine months & Seventeen dayes whereby the sd Wm

Saith accon hath accrued to have & demand of the sd Rob^t the

Sum of fifty one pound eight shillings & four pence Sterling

Nevertheless, y^e sd Rob^t Promises afd not regarding but minding &

the sd Wm in this behalf Craftily & Subtily to deceive & defraud

the Said Sum of 51^£ =8^s=4^d Sterling to the sd Wm hath not paid

but hath hitherto refused & doth still refuse to the damage of y^e

Sd Wm of fifty nine pounds Sterling & thereof he brings his Sute &ca.
