Joseph Basnet Plt. Somerset County Ss. Han Maynard Dft } Hannah Maynard late of Somerset County ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Admrx of the goods Chattels & Credits of Ja. Maynard late of this County deceased Innholder was attached to answer unto Joseph Basnet of a plea of debt &ca. - - - - - - ____ - - - - - - And whereupon the Said Joseph by Robt Pirrie his Attorney Complaineth that whereas James Maynard the 24th day of March in the year of or Lord 1692/3 at Snow hill within the Jurisdiction of this Court became indebted unto the Said Joseph in the full quantity of One thousand pounds of good Sound Merchantable tobacco by his Certain Bill Obligatory which ye Said Joseph bringeth here into Court the date whereof is the day & year aforesd , which aforesd 1000 pounds of tobacco the Said James bound himself his Heirs Extors & Admrs to pay to the sd Joseph him his Heirs &ca. the tenth day of October next ensueing the date aforesd under the hand & Seal of the Said James Maynard the sd Hannah Maynard Admrx as afd the sd Sum of 1000 pounds of tobacco hath not paid according to the tenour of the Bill. afd, but fraudulently & Craftily the sd Sum to tobacco afd hath detained & refused to pay & doth still refuse to pay although thereunto requested by ye Said Joseph to the damage of the Said Joseph of 2000lilb Of tobaco & thereupon he brings this Sute &ca. {Jno Doe Pirrie pr Quer Pleg prsec Rich Roe} Somerset County This Bill bindeth me James Maynard me my Heirs Extors Admrs or Assigns to pay unto Joseph Basnett or his Heirs or Assigns the just Sum of one thousand pounds of good Sound Mertable tobacco & Caske to be paid by the tenth day of October next ensueing, & Witness my hand & Seal the 21th day of March 1692/3 James Maynard ❂ Testes / Wm Willmott Wm Seamore The Decl. & Bill being read ye Dfts Attorney Dent Confest judgmt for the afd 1000 lb of tobacco (if Assetts) thereupon the Court grants order accordingly, als Executio.
John Truett Plt Somerset County Ss – Jno Poplewell Dft} Jno Poplewell als Jno Poplewell late of Somerset ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ County Planter was attached to answer unto Jno Truett of plea of debt &ca. And whereupon the Said John, by Robt Pirrie his Attorney Complaineth yt whereas the Said John ye 2d. day of March, in the year of or Lord God 1689 at Snow hill wthin ye Jurisdiction of this Court by a Certain bond with a Condition wch the sd Jno under the hand & Seal of ye sd Jno bringeth here into Court ye date whereof is the day and year afd, did acknowledge himSelfe to be bound to the sd Jno in ye full & just qt of twelve thousand pounds of good Sound Mertable leaf tobacco & Caske Convenient at Some Convenient Towne or Landing in the afd County at or upon ye 30th day of October next ensueing the date afd, Nevertheless the sd Jno Poplewell the said Sum of 1200 pounds of tobacco afd according to the tenour or the sd Bond afd to the sd Jno Truett he hath not paid , but hath hitherto refused & doth Still refuse to pay although often demanded to the damage of the sd Jno Truett of 24000 = pounds of tobacco as afd & thereupon he brings this Sute &ca.
