96.

Any liability of the State of Maryland pursuant to Article HI (f)
of the Compact shall be paid out of the General Emergency Fund.

97.

In accordance with Article HI (h) of the Compact, members of
the National Guard Forces of the State of Maryland shall be deemed
to be in State service at all times when engaged pursuant to this
Compact, and shall be entitled to all rights and benefits provided for
under Article 65 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 538
(Senate Bill 331)

AN ACT to add new Section 86C to Article 66˝ of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supple-
ment) , title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Administration—Registra-
tion—Titling," to follow immediately after Section 86B thereof,
amending the motor vehicle laws relating to renewal of licenses.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 86C be and it is hereby added to Article 66˝ of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume and
1967 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Administration
—Registration—Titling," to follow immediately after Section 86B
thereof, and to read as follows:

86C.

Notwithstanding any other sections of this Article, if any person
has been properly summoned for trial for
CHARGED WITH a motor
vehicle violation
CHARGED WITH A VIOLATION, OTHER THAN
PARKING, UNDER THIS ARTICLE AFTER JULY 1, 1968 , HAS
BEEN PROPERLY SUMMONED FOR TRIAL, and has failed to
appear for trial and the enforcement agency is unable to apprehend
him by warrant, the Department shall attach a notation of such
failure to appear to his driving record,
AND TO HIS APPLICA-
TION FOR RENEWAL OR REINSTATEMENT, and he shall not
be entitled to a renewal
OR REINSTATEMENT of his operator's or
chauffeur's license until he shall have answered said warrant and
appeared for trial.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
