subheading "Department of Correction," subheading "Advisory
Board," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

672.

(a) The Advisory Board of the Department of Correction is estab-
lished. It has [eight] nine members, one of whom from time to time
is the person who is serving as Chairman of the Board of Parole and
Probation and one of whom is the Director of the Department of
Parole and Probation, both
ex officio. The Governor shall appoint
the other seven members from time to time, and for good cause
shown may remove any member or members from this appointive
group. Vacancies on the Board from time to time, for any cause,
shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired term.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the officers and employees
of the Board of Parole and Probation and of the Department of Parole
and Probation who as of January 1, 1969, were so employed by the
Board or the Department, respectively, and who were then subject
to the rights, duties and privileges provided for by Articles 64A and
73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland, shall continue after January
1, 1969, as officers and employees of the Parole Board or the Depart-
ment of Parole and Probation, respectively, without diminution in
compensation and without any further examination or qualification
and shall thereafter continue fully subject to the rights, duties and
privileges of said Articles 64A and 73B of the Annotated Code.
THE OPERATIONS OF THE BOARD OF PAROLE FOR THE
1969 FISCAL YEAR SHALL BE FUNDED BY THE TRANS-
FER TO THE BOARD OF FUNDS BUDGETED FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF PAROLE AND PROBATION.

Sec 4. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.

Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That if any provision of this Act
or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not affect the other
provisions or any other application of this Apt which can be given
effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, all
the provisions of this Act are hereby declared to be severable.

Sec. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
January 1, 1969.
