The County Commissioners of Carroll County shall be authorized
and empowered to borrow from time to time upon the credit of
said county such sum or sums of money as in their discretion may
be deemed necessary, provided such loan or loans shall not exceed
a total of one million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars
[($1,000,000.00)] ($1,250,000) at any one time.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 391
(House Bill 1246)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3(x) of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement
Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "General Provi-
sions," to provide that Worcester County will have the power to
provide community and social services for the preservation and
promotion of the health, recreation and welfare of the inhabitants
of the county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3(x) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle
"General Provisions," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

(x) To provide, maintain, and operate community and social serv-
ices for the preservation and promotion of the health, recreation,
and welfare of the inhabitants of the county. This subsection
shall be applicable in Worcester County and the county commissioners
shall have the powers provided herein.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
