tion Boards and Employees," to increase the compensation of elec-
tion judges in Baltimore City and to provide for a period of
instruction for said judges and to incorporate within those sec-
tions all of the terms of Chapter 608, Acts of 1967, which amended
Section 9 (h) of Article 33 of the 1967 Replacement Volume of

the Maryland Code, to the extent that such Chapter is left un-

changed by virtue of this Act. AND A REDUCED RATE OF
COMPENSATION FOR THOSE JUDGES WHO HAVE NOT
RECEIVED THIS PERIOD OF INSTRUCTION.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections SECTION 2-7 (f) and 2-7 (g) of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Supplement), title "Election
Code," subtitle "Election Boards and Employees," be and they are
IT IS hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

2-7.

(f) Each board shall have power to fix the compensation of judges
within the limits of the amounts authorized for this purpose by the
county commissioners, county council or the mayor and city council
of Baltimore, as the case may be, provided that compensation shall
not be less than twenty dollars ($20.00) per day for each day actually
served. In Baltimore City, the compensation of judges of elections
shall be fifty dollars ($50.00) per day for each election day;
EXCEPT
THAT JUDGES WHO HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE COURSE
OF INSTRUCTION PRESCRIBED BY THE BOARD OF SUPER-
VISORS OF ELECTIONS SHALL HAVE COMPENSATION OF
FORTY DOLLARS ($40.00) PER DAY FOR EACH ELECTION
DAY.

(g) Judges shall receive a course of instruction in their duties

administered by the board. For attending the required courses of
instruction in Allegany County, the judges shall receive as compensa-
tion the sum of five dollars ($5.00) for each day of instruction and a

mileage allowance for each such day at the rate of ten cents per mile
between their residence and the place where the course of instruction

is given. In Baltimore City, the compensation of judges of elections

shall be fifty dollars ($50.00) per day for each election day.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall incorporate
all of the terms of Chapter 608, Acts of 1967, which amended Section
9(h) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume), to the extent that such Chapter is left unchanged by
virtue of this Act.

Sec. 3 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.
